SUMMER FUN - On a Budget

With rising fuel and food prices, scrappers are coming up with new ways to have fun in the sun. While many are still taking their traditional vacations, others are coming up with new and inventive ways to have summer-time fun without breaking the bank.

One scrapbooker, Carey, states that her family has chosen to do more “low-cost” trips. This includes free destinations like her local zoo and science center as well local activities like the Renaissance Festival, Independence Day carnival, and county fairs. “There’s plenty to do, see, photograph, and scrap at these


 

places. Generally, the big cost is food so we try to plan ahead so we can eat at home, pack a lunch, or stop somewhere less expensive first,” says Carey.

Another scrapbooker, Theresa Marie says that their family has done several things to cut back. She says that she has cut down the number of trips around town by consolidating her errands. She also said that she sold all of her regular scrapping stuff and used the money towards other needs since she is primarily a digi scrapper now. It cuts down on clutter and brings in a little extra money.

Designer Alicia Oestreich says that her mom plans scrapbooking weekends....
