Q:: What would you like to achieve and accomplish through your store?
Trish::
I hope that with opening the store and being such an open community that people will come in to the site and feel welcome. They will look into our shop and see that we have a vast array of products and a lot of unique products. Half of our shops is exclusive designers where you can only find their products in Enchanted Studio Scraps. It’s one of those shops where I hope that people would come in and see that we are unique, and that we are different and that we offer so much more than a lot of other shops do.
Q:: When you opened your shop, I’m sure you had an idea who you want to work with and how you would like to run your shop. Did you also have a clear financial objective?
Trish::
I did. I came into this knowing that I was going to put a lot of money into it. At first I knew I wasn’t going to make that money back and that wasn’t my intention, not to be in this to be making a whole lot of money. Most of it is to give the designers that were leaving the other shop with me another place to go, another place to call home to scrap and to communicate with each other. The money hasn’t been an issue for me yet.
Q:: When you study and look around, you must have seen many stores opened just to close again. What did you think when you realized that? Was it a scary thought for you?
Trish::
I guess as a store owner you always have that fear at the back of your mind of site not being as successful as you wish it would. I didn’t have that fear… it wasn’t always on my mind because starting out the shop, I already had some very established designers. Designers that have been in this industry for 2 or more years. I knew by starting this shop that I was going to have a solid base. A lot of stores don’t always get that. A lot of stores opened up and then hold a call for designers and get them randomly. I started the shop and had some very strong designers with me from the very beginning and I think that is why we have been such a success so far.
Q:: What was your most beautiful moment while operating the shop?
Trish::
I would say the very first month that everything started to run smooth. It was the day when I never received any customer service e-mails. It was the day when my designers came back and say, “I’m so happy to be here.” It was after that first month going into the second month when everything had just fallen into place.
Q:: When you tell your friends and family that you run this scrapbooking store, do they know what you are doing?
Trish::
A lot of my friends and family know exactly what I am doing. I’ve been a scrapbooker personally myself for about 4-1/2 years. I’ve got several books printed, I’ve done wedding invitations and birthday cards for family and friends. So when I told them I was opening my own digital scrapbooking store, they were very excited for me because they have been huge inspirations for me in my work. So I always have the supports from friends and family.
Q:: Between running a store and designing, which one do you prefer?
Trish::
I love running the store. I love being in close contacts with the designers and I love when they come to me and ask for my opinion on their work. I love being in the community all the time and being able to talk to the scrappers and go through the gallery and look at the layouts and comment on those. Designing is always going to be in my heart. When I need that out, I always go right back to my program and start designing. There little mini kits and freebies for my blog readers or freebies for the site’s blog. Designing is always there and I get so much inspirations from the designers themselves that I think they come first on my book.
