You know the age old saying “Beat the Winter Blues”. With its’ mute and dreary colors, cold and rigid temperatures and the decrease in daylight hours, it is an ever so appropriate adage. Being that summer is the opposite of winter in just about all aspects and I love a good play on words, I have officially declared “Greet the Summer Hues” the official summer saying of the digital scrapbook community. Of course, if anyone wants to talk it up and help make it an adage that our grandchildren will be spouting, rest assured there will be no argument from me.
Summer, just the very word rolling off my tongue evokes images of backyard barbeques, picnics in the park, building sandcastles at the beach and chasing butterflies in the fields. Summer is color. Just a quick peek out of your window and the hues of summer flood your senses with a feeling of happiness, fun and joy. Filled with its’ vibrant, pure and clear shades of every color, summer will bring about the adventurer in you just by taking that first morning step out your door.
Summer also says vacation. A time to get away from it all, refresh your spirit and spend some time with the ones you love. Of course, there are many kinds of |

vacations from the overnight trip to the adorable little town 60 miles away to the week visit with the in-laws. Although, I am not sure how many of us really consider any week-long visit with family a vacation. I only get away with saying that given that my mother is not a member of the digital community. I want to make sure I get to partake in her famous stuffing when it comes around the table this Thanksgiving.
For my family, vacation is our annual trip to one of the many Texas beaches. Some of the many things we do on our trips include; lounging at the beach, taking in some local attractions, devouring too much seafood, hours upon hours spent at the pool, night crabbing, sea shell hunting, long walks along the shore line and of course our daily naps. One of the highlights of our vacations is watching our children toss pieces of bread into the air for the seagulls to catch while in flight. This ritual has produced some our favorite and funniest memories at the beach, not to mention some great photos.
