Digital-Crea is a French-based store headed by Amélie, store owner and designer under the brand name AmelieScrap. This store consists of a long list of talented designers and they have created a collab kit for TDS Studio, called ‘I Love Paris’. Julie aka hazelsmrf is on hand to translate the interview from French into English. Find out about the store below and what makes it so popular in this industry.
Q: How did you get the name, 'Digital-Crea’? What does that mean and when was it established?
Amélie: The name Digital Crea was pretty randomly picked, I didn't want to use the term scrapbooking, but digital seemed important to me. And crea was an abbreviated form of creation. So I simply chose Digital Crea! The shop was created in August 2007, it was then called Scrap Shop, it did not perform very well so I changed everything in November 2007 by installing Zen cart, and since this date our shop is called Digital Crea.
Q: What is Digital-Crea’s philosophy and product speciality?
Amélie: We don't have any particular philosophy. We are first and foremost a group of friends, we discuss scrapping and life in general on our message boards. I think that the success of our shop is due to our close-knit group of designers! We accept very few new designers to ensure that we have time to know each other well. Sharing ideas in an open, friendly environment is very important to me.
Q: How many designers do you have? All they all French-speaking since Digital-Crea is a French store?
Amélie: We are currently 38 designers, we only have 4 designers that cannot speak French. The shop's private message board is in French but we try to translate the important things to make them feel like a welcome part of the team.
Q: How often do you have special promotions?
Amélie: There is no set frequency for promotions. We plan our promotions at the beginning of the month. In general, we do one important promotion per month, the rest depends on the designers, they are the ones who decide on their promotions. We regularly have an end of the month promotion for CU items to permit the designers to renew their material.
Q: What is the inspiration when creating the collab kit, “I Love Paris” for TDS Studio?
Amélie: We looked for a theme that would represent us, we are a French shop and until now we had never seen a kit with colors and elements representing France, so it came pretty naturally to us to choose this theme. It's even more interesting when you consider that the designers live in different regions of France, each was able to create elements based on their regions. We hope that the kit will please and that foreigners will find a taste of France in our elements!
Q: Tell us a little about yourself and family.
Sylvie: My name is Amélie, I'm 29 years old, I've been married for 5 years and Mommy to little Victor for the past 6 months.
