Create Your own Custom Chipboard Embellishments

Chipboard embellishments are everywhere you look. You can find them at your LSS, in online stores, on layouts in forums and galleries.....no doubt about it, they're HOT! It's no wonder either. They add dimension and visual interest. They come in all shapes, sizes, patterns. The possibilities abound.

But what happens when you are working on a layout and you've combed through all of your chipboard pieces and nothing really seems to work? You can't find the right color, the size is right but the pattern is too bold for your layout, you have plenty of naked chipboard but not the right color, etc.? You can always alter your chipboard to fit your layout.

Most times, I purchase naked chipboard because I have so many more possibilities with it. Sure, I purchase my share of chipboard in pre-patterned designs, but I love having the flexibility that naked chipboard gives me. And even if all you have is pre-designed chipboard, don't be afraid to alter it, cover it with paint, re-cover it with a new piece of patterned paper, etc.

One of my favorite ways to alter chipboard is to paint it, then stamp it. With all of the different hues and shades of acrylic paint on the market, as well as endless varieties of rubber/polymer stamps, you're guaranteed a perfect match no matter what layout you're creating.
