Altered Clock Project
Written by Jerosha Aretun

What time is it? That’s what I usually ask my husband every day. Simply because you’ll never find clocks at our home. Oh yeah, we have one in the kitchen but we rely on our mobile phones most of the time. I don’t have any wrist watch because I never liked wearing one. When I intend to buy clocks I don’t see any that is to my liking. So, I promised myself that I’m going to make clocks of my own. Just like what my husband says “Can’t you make a clock |
|
out of your scrapbook materials?” Of course I can and so I searched for the base clock that I can alter.
Luckily, I saw flower shaped wood and I knew in my heart that it’s perfect for my altered clock. I bought few of the wood plus few materials needed to run a clock and started making for my art room. In 30 minutes I was able to finish one and I call it my “Flower Blooms” clock. I simply played with my flowers and wooden ladybugs, shell beads, and 3D rubber pen. I got so addicted to it that I made one for my mother-in-laws 80th birthday , called the “Aretun clock”. It’s filled with the Aretun family pictures plus her 2 dogs. Then, I made one more for my step-daughter, the “Wishes Clock”. In this clock I embellished it with tags and embroidered flowers. The last one I did is a special request from my mother-in-law who wanted a clock with butterflies for her bathroom.

Instructions:
- Prepare the clock basic materials plus spray glue. Choose the papers you would like to use in your clock as well as the embellishments.
- Trace the wooden clock and cut your paper. Don't forget to trace the middle hole of the clock, too. Afterwhich, glue the paper onto the clock.
- Start adding the embellishments.
- Assemble the clock gadgets.
It’s really fun, easy, and inexpensive altered project. It's a functional piece of art that's easy to embellish with whatever supplies available, and it takes hardly any "time" to create!
