that, I mean that I want my life to make a difference – if ever so small – in this world. So, aside from raising my children and leaving a legacy for them through scrapbooking, I have made a career of volunteerism.
Over the past 8 years, the list of organizations that I've served is large, including the PTA organizations of four schools, my Church, Football & Soccer leagues, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Booster Club, Catholic Charities Refugee program, Moms in Need Program and Childspring International. Here is a layout that I created to summarize the main organizations that I've been involved in:

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the USA, I'll tell you about one of my all-time favorite volunteer projects. Last year, the mother of one of my Girl Scouts was diagnosed with breast cancer. The family has 3 young girls, and their life was turned upside-down as they went through a difficult year of cancer treatment. So, when it was time for my Girl Scout Troop to select a community service project, the Breast Cancer 3 Day Event Camp Angels Program was the perfect choice!
The Breast Cancer 3 Day Camp Angels program gave the girls an opportunity to perform vigorous, but satisfying physical labor in support of the 3-Day walkers. Fourteen young Girl Scouts worked hard helping to set-up 1500 bright pink tents, and cheering on the exhausted walkers as they finished day one of the 60 mile journey. This experience was very empowering for the girls, because they witnessed first-hand thousands of women working together for a common goal. I felt very proud to help give these young girls this experience, because it taught the lesson that we, as women, are not powerless and we don't have to be victims...that we can work together and fight for something important…like a cure for Breast Cancer.

This is one of my all time favorite layouts because it really captures the spirit of hope that was in the air during the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day Event.
The time I've put into volunteering is sometimes equivalent to a full-time job. While it brings me no income, it brings me much greater rewards! For more information about the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day including volunteer opportunities see their website:
