....scrapbook, I carefully made photo albums with notes and journaling on or beside each photo. It soon became a nightly habit of my children to look through their own personal photo albums before bedtime, sometimes making up their own stories to go along with each memory. Before too long, I learned about scrapbooking and I have been smitten ever since! It is ingrained in me to tell stories, relate memories, and to relive the past, so scrapbooking made its way into my life quite naturally.

Grateful that my parents have preserved so many old photos, I delved into making treasures for my children’s children. Imagine my delight when I discovered digital scrapbooking, something that I had already been doing for years, and I quickly found my life calling. Now, when my family looks through our scrapbooks, they no longer have to make up stories to go along with photos - especially the heritage layouts I have journaled on. These faces from the past come to life on the page as we read about their lives and precious memories. |

Journaling is the second most important piece of your layout, the photo being number one. Imagine looking at an entire scrapbook that has only photos and pretty papers, but no words to be found. At the very least, each layout should have a title, a name, and a date. If you don’t know the date, you can guess - it’s better than no date at all.
Scrapbooking is a sweet gift that we give to our families. Journaling is the icing on the cake. Your children will be forever grateful that you took the time to journal.
